Imagination

This is B's bird's nest. She made it out of grass clippings and two little rocks. I have always struggled with the labels that have been put on autistic people. It is said that they have no imagination or creativity. I used to agree with that, because the girls seem to only copy things from movies, or books. Lately I find I'm changing my mind about this. Perhaps they are copying, but they are using their imagination and creativity to do this. There is this beautiful little nest, and the paper ballet slippers and crown. Don't we all copy when we are being creative? We take the things we like and we use them to create something else, wether we are aware of it or not. Our result may be similar to the original or it may be something completely different. We call it inspiration. I think my girls are full of creativity and imagination. They take the things they like, and recreate them with what ever they can find, such as paper. They also take something like grass clippings, and use them to create something new. If that's not using your creativity and imagination, then I don't know what is...

The Harvest

OK so its only one squash, but still its pretty cool. We have another big one growing and there are a few baby ones on the vine.

We took this one out because it was outside the fence, and the ducks were getting a little too close.

It was very tasty too.

B an F watched Angelina Ballerina on Saturday. Bianca made herself ballerina shoes and a little crown out of paper. She was so proud. It took her a long time, and she would get frustrated when the paper or tape would not cooperate, but she was very patient with herself, and she finished it. The skirt is part of her outfit too. F was very excited too, so b let her try it all on.

Weekend 10.8.10

We made it to the park twice this weekend. The weather has been beautiful.

The kids were happy to get out of the house. F kept taking a little boy's bike, He was OK sharing with her. She sang "Its a Small World" the whole time she rode. B took it too, and was pretending she was delivering newspapers. Oh yes, and my kids take books to the park.

Finally...

Friday, E, Lela and I got our library cards. We had been planning to go get them almost every week since school started, but for one reason or another we weren't able to go.
