Bianca is so excited about Christmas. She is waiting for Santa every day.
We did make cookies, which turned out very well, we had a Tinker Bell birthday party, trimmed the tree, slept, and waited for Santa.

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. The food was amazing, the family was happy and the kids were really good. Bianca and Fiona said grace. They love to say grace.
We had such a nice long weekend. It was hard to go back to the routine this morning.

We had a lovely weekend, starting with the beach on Friday. It was the first cool day of the year, and we had planned to go to the beach. It was cool and very windy. The girls still went in the water, because the water is just irresistible for these little ones. Ethan took a book. I'm starting to see a theme here.

Halloween 2010

We are Back

Its been a very busy couple of weeks. We had a great Visit from tia K and T. We had school projects for the girls, and Halloween. It was all a success.

Ethan and I took K and T to the everglades on Monday. We had beautiful weather, and Ethan got to hold a baby alligator, which I believe totally made his week, and as a bonus, we learned a lot about alligators and the everglades. We had a beautiful morning at the beach on Tuesday. Then we saw them off Wednesday morning.

Thats when we got the school projects started, which turned out very nice, but I forgot to take pictures. They had to dress up on Thursday. They looked very cute. and B kept the bows on for most of the day.

Halloween

I have a lot of costumes to make, will be back shortly. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Imagination

This is B's bird's nest. She made it out of grass clippings and two little rocks. I have always struggled with the labels that have been put on autistic people. It is said that they have no imagination or creativity. I used to agree with that, because the girls seem to only copy things from movies, or books. Lately I find I'm changing my mind about this. Perhaps they are copying, but they are using their imagination and creativity to do this. There is this beautiful little nest, and the paper ballet slippers and crown. Don't we all copy when we are being creative? We take the things we like and we use them to create something else, wether we are aware of it or not. Our result may be similar to the original or it may be something completely different. We call it inspiration. I think my girls are full of creativity and imagination. They take the things they like, and recreate them with what ever they can find, such as paper. They also take something like grass clippings, and use them to create something new. If that's not using your creativity and imagination, then I don't know what is...

The Harvest

OK so its only one squash, but still its pretty cool. We have another big one growing and there are a few baby ones on the vine.

We took this one out because it was outside the fence, and the ducks were getting a little too close.

It was very tasty too.

B an F watched Angelina Ballerina on Saturday. Bianca made herself ballerina shoes and a little crown out of paper. She was so proud. It took her a long time, and she would get frustrated when the paper or tape would not cooperate, but she was very patient with herself, and she finished it. The skirt is part of her outfit too. F was very excited too, so b let her try it all on.

Weekend 10.8.10

We made it to the park twice this weekend. The weather has been beautiful.

The kids were happy to get out of the house. F kept taking a little boy's bike, He was OK sharing with her. She sang "Its a Small World" the whole time she rode. B took it too, and was pretending she was delivering newspapers. Oh yes, and my kids take books to the park.

Finally...

Friday, E, Lela and I got our library cards. We had been planning to go get them almost every week since school started, but for one reason or another we weren't able to go.

Here is E reading in the children's section while my mom and I went to look for books for ourselves.

Our Banana Mama

Our banana mama tree kept making babies but no bananas, so Dan had to cut her down. We should have done it a while ago, but it was hard let her go. Ethan had fun cutting the trunk, and then they all painted the leaves. The trunk is edible and the ducks were happy to have some too. Its amazing to see how perfect this world was created, making every part of it useful and necessary.

Back Outside

The evenings are getting more pleasant. The kids are more willing to go play outside. Its so nice to see them enjoy the little bit of nature we have right in our back yard.

It needs a little work, but they are having so much fun already.

Weekend

Ethan was sick, and Bianca wasn't feeling well, which makes for a very loud and unhappy little girl.

That is how the weekend began.

Saturday was Chilean Independence day, so Sunday evening we had our empanadas.

I had mine with tea,the Americans them with coffee, and apple juice, weird.

We sat on the back porch watching our happy little girls looking out into the water after running around and enjoying the grass, the breeze, and in Bianca's words, the beautiful ducks.

It was a great end to the weekend.
